eBay Adventures in Luxury Vintage

I have been coveting a vintage Chanel bag for a good portion of 2007. Despite the fraction of the price tag, vintage Chanel is still pretty expensive and I am very frugal. Hence the obsession with vintage.
I purchased one off of eBay earlier in the year, but it’s very modern and perfect for work. But I still wanted an iconic style. Maybe something along the lines of a 2.55, but with all the celebrity cachet, they are nearly impossible to find for a deal and they are everywhere. Deep down inside, I’m still in high school-an anti-establishment teen and don’t want to look like everyone else. So on to my expensive designer bag…
Yesterday, after being spurred by Susie Bubble’s eBay tutorial, I searched arduously for “vintage chanel bag” and “chanel purse”. Sometimes I omit the vintage keyword because I know some resellers think vintage makes it sound old and no one will want to buy it, even though they disclose it is in used condition. Go figure.
The auction ended at 10:50 am. But like a good high fashion-at-discount-prices obsessed girl, I logged on at work, and bid. And bid. And bid. And lost. By $20.
I was disappointed over the bag that never was. It was perfect. Double gold chains, soft quilted leather, excellent condition and as classic as the 2.55 but much more youthful. It also had the cutest interlocking Cs charm on the chain. I loved the fact that the CCs weren’t quilted on the leather, but instead just hung there playfully. Much more my style.
I couldn’t get the bag out of my head. Do I dare try to find another with a BIN price? I dare.
Glad I did, because I found another one exactly like the first, in better condition (according to the description) but they wanted double what I was willing to pay, but were accepting offers. So I made an offer at half the price. And they accepted!
So you are now looking at the proud owner of the newest iconic piece of luxury vintage in her wardrobe:

I have my eye on a patent leather one too.
