Alligators, Old Mink & New Money
Yesterday, I was on a mission to buy something to read other than my eMac screen. I went to Barnes & Noble and found Alligators, Old Mink & New Money by Allison & Melissa Houte in the Collectibles section. I read something about the book on Ebay. A book about vintage clothing and thrift store scores? SOLD!
Allison Houte is the owner of Hooti Couture, a vintage boutique in Brooklyn, New York. She was a model for a decade and then realized her dream of selling something she wasn't wearing in front of a camera-vintage. A life long thrift store junkie, she shares her experiences with and fondness for vintage clothing that actually grew from emarrassment of wearing second hand clothes to school.
This book was a great light read. I laughed quite a few times at the familiar upbringing of these two fashionable sisters. I think it's the thread that ties all us vintage lovers together-finding the diamond in the rough. These women are my vintage kindred spirits. I most highly recommend this book to anyone who loves quality, fashion and the thrill of the hunt!

Thanks a million for the mention of our book! We are thrilled! We also love your merchandise; the black dress with the white fur collar is incredible.
Also, just in case you are curious, you can hear a segment about Hooti and vintage at NPR.org. We were featured in a short piece on All Things Considered; it originally aired on Sunday, Jan. 15.
