Punky Cocktail Dress by L.A.M.B.
Ah, the box pleats, the shelf bust, it's all so wonderful. Gwen is really becoming a fantastic designer. The only thing i don't like about this dress is the low scoop back. I see it mimics the rounded hemline in front, while the back hemline has the same pleats as the bust. While it is clever, I think a higher scoop would make it less risque and keep it looking sophisticated with attitude.

The Thrill of the Hunt
I remember the first time I thanked the vintage gods for blessing me with a killer vintage find. I walked into a thrift store not knowing what to expect, but I was feeling very confident. I headed for the ties and found a beautiful Lanvin tie, and for some silly reason, begged to find a Lanvin dress.
Lo and behold, I found a Lanvin dress. It had the most beautiful paisley jewel toned pattern. It has since been sold to a vintage dealer in Australia. Boy was I thrilled. Of course there have been many a vintage find since then, but there is nothing like finding a gem in an unlikely place.
Such is the case of my new goddess, Stacey Winnick. Stacey is a top notch vintage reseller, selling to fashion designers and costume designers. She describes a time when she went on an appointment and found, waiting for her in an attic, a 1960s Hermes bag, in it's original box. I get chills just typing it.
What have been some of your note worthy vintage finds? Do tell....

Credit Card orders and Shipping
Good news! We will soon be able to handle credit card orders without going through Paypal. We are just waiting the final installation and we will be ready to take your credit card orders.
Also, shipping on the new cart has been a bit sticky. We think we have worked out the bugs and now calculating International shipping should be no problem.
Finally, the dust is settling.

Anna Sui Spring 2007
The only designer that does Boho right is Anna Sui. I don't especially like Boho stuff, but somehow, she can add some edge and get away with it without looking like a crazy bag lady. No offense Ashley and Kate.
My favorite dress is this stiped, rose border print one that is very influenced by 50s full skirt dresses and the official colors of punk rock, red, white and black. And of course the stripes.
Anna Sui's version:

Vintage Norma Kamali
check out my latest eBay acquisition
They have a little 2 inch heel. I think I will be wearing these with skirts and some kind of textured tights. Or with short pants.

Disco is NOT Dead
The 70s. The decade we love to hate. Maureen Valdes Marsh captures the good, the bad, and the ugly with stylish commentary and trivia in her new book 70s Fashion Fiascos. It is choc full of plaid polyester madness and and the grooviest double knits this side of the dance floor. I especially like the trivia quizzes and the men's leisure suits. You can't get more fly than Super Fly. A fashionable two thumbs up and a "Dy-no-mite".
