Paper, Art, Diller
Fashion Week Daily - Parties - L.A. Confidential
What do you get when you cross NY style, LA art & fashion and Phyllis Diller? The February issue of Paper Magazine!
M.A.C and Levi's are sponsoring the one week long event in Los Angeles that will include a mix of local fashion, art, film, music, and photography plus top brands like Collete and Opening Ceremony.
My curiosity is totally piqued by the Phyllis Diller art show curated by Cameron Silver. I can't get rid of the mental image of some sort of installation made entirely of platinum wigs.

LA Fashion Week S08 Eduardo Lucero at Vibianas
Ok, ok, so I'm about a week late on all the LA Fashion Week hoopla. This season, I did not attend the Mercedes-Benz shows, not for lack of invitations (people do like me dammit), but I just wasn't all that interested in attending any of the shows. With the exception of Juan Carlos Obando's and Ecoganik, but I couldn't make their show times.
What I was happy and excited to attend were the Downtown LA shows that Box Eight so graciously put on. Downtown is experiencing a renaissance, and it couldn't be a better time.
Hollywood is dead. Anyone who thinks Hollywood is where all the action is reads waaay too many celebrity rags. I hate to sound so F.U., but LA is in desperate need of some emerging, raw talent. I hope Box Eight continues to cultivate the artistic and fashion scene in the heart of Los Angeles.
I was able to catch the tail end of the Louis Verdad show. It was very cute, very vintage inspired-short, high-waisted shorts, puff sleeve floral blouses, 40s inspired dresses. The models look fresh, youthful and the frontward chignon bun atop their pretty little heads was quirky enough to work and give a modern touch to a very retro show.
Eduardo Lucero took a more adventurous route. Taking inspiration from the decadent arches and remaining soul of the former St. Vibiana's Cathedral, Lucero crafted a collection that went from mourning catholic women styled in black veils and very Isabella Blow like head pieces.

It was all about movement: flouncy ruffles, flowy chiffon, dangly paillettes. But the funnest pieces were the Holy Madonna, Alaia-esque hooded dress in royal blue and star adorned hoods.

Bordello formerly known as Little Pedro's
It took me so long to write my thoughts about the Eduardo Lucero show in downtown Los Angeles at the Box Eight/Vibiana's show.
But with the downtown vibe theme in mind, last week, I met up with two of my favorite gal pals, Blackphoebe and the Adnostic, at the renovated Little Pedro's now known as Bordello. I have been very curious about the venue, mostly for it's architecture and design, but also because it is one of many hip joints in the growing downtown L.A. scene.

I am so excited to see Downtown experiencing a renaissance. The interior of this place is amazing. A devil's lair/boudoir where the naughty and nice mix it up in an eclectic mix of hipsters, barflies, and artists. My kind of crowd!

Test 1 2
So it's been a while since I last posted. Can I make it up to you?
How about some music icon mixed with a dash of fashion and a bit of fashion history. Check out Debbie Harry talk about her accidental fashion status, her personal stylist Stephen Sprouse and the fact she still looks like a hot punk rock/dance wonderment.
