Chanel Lifetime TV Movie Receives Bad Reviews
Several biopic projects depicting the life of Coco Chanel are in the works. Along with a made for TV movie on Lifetime, a film starring Audrey Tatou and Alessandro Nivola will be released next year.

But critics have not received the Lifetime series warmly.
A NEW made-for-television film, Coco Chanel - which claims to be "freely inspired by the truth" - has been savaged by critics for its lack of structure, factual inaccuracies and "wooden" acting.

Mademoiselle would not be pleased!

I'm very glad that a new film about Chanel's life is coming. And very interested also, in spite of all critical ideas. I keep myself to form an opinion before watching a film, even if the whole world is criticizing it. By the way, I wonder why all the bloggers are citing only one film critic's ideas? Maybe she is alone in her critics? Let's just watch the film first, and than meet again to talk about.

It's about time that Coco Chanel gets the tribute she deserves. Kudos to your life achievement, the courage, and vision to be innovative. You have been a true inspirations in my life as a fashion designer. When there is passion, there is a will....
She was, and will always be, the predecessor of todays modern fashion.
Thank you Coco

The Lifetime movie was a huge disappointment. Shirley McLean was supurb but was totally upstaged by the clothes.

the movie was thoroughly enjoyable.Icant understand why it gt panned'McClaine was good but I felt the young actress who played the much larger role was excellant,

Carlos - I agree, it is about time. She was a genius and a feminist before her time.
Bill and Helen - I thought Shirley was upstaged as well. McClaine was so flat. Was that how Coco Chanel was by the end of her life? She must have been - I've never known Shirley McClaine to be a bad actress.

After watching this movie on Lifetime Channel, I have to say this is one of the best movies I have seen starring Shirley McLean.

If Lifetime really is negotiating for ANY kind of deal with any of the Anthony's I will NEVER watch this channel again. How utterly disgusting!

Jeanie,
I had no idea what you were talking about until I Googled "Anthonys" and Lifetime. OMG! This whole tragedy has been creepy and disturbing. I totally understand your feelings.
