ooh, this is a FANTASTIC giveaway!!!
ok... here's my story. One Christmas in Hawaii, I decided to take surf lessons. Of course, I got the stand with the hot surf instructor, who was really nice to me. I had taken about three lessons, and we were getting along so well, and i decided i would wear this cute bikini...
We got out to the surfing area fine alright... and then I even caught one wave, everything was really cool. And on the second one I totally wiped out and lost my bikini top.
He was actually really cool about it (yeah, of course right?) but I was mortified.

Wow, those are amazing!
My most embarrasing (and funny in retrospect!) swimwear story was at Phoenix festival in the 1990s. I was wearing a string bikini with denim shorts as it was very hot and was sat in the comedy tent, with several thousand other people in the middle of the afternoon.
I felt something tickle my back, reached round, felt something there and pulled. It was a piece of thread and the entire of the underbust band of my bikini top almost instantly unravelled, one of the "triangle" cups detached and the whole lot fell down and left me sitting topless in the middle of the crowd.
I'm still embarrassed now and it was 13 years ago!

Thanks for posting this! I don't have a great swimsuit story, but I went onto the site and ordered one of the sale suits to check for fit. So cute! Can't wait to get it.

embarrassing swimsuit stories oh no! Mine make me cringe and I think maybe not a good idea to share.... a white bottoms that was see-through after being in the ocean and running up the beach to get my towel (tryinng to avoid the person taking a picture!), a top coming off 3/4 the way down a mile high waterslide (see the topless girl flying down the ramp and into the water), someones foot getting caught in my boyshorts bottoms and pulling them half off!!! That last one better have been by accident buddy! That was also 13 years ago, still mortified.

Penny - it doesn't have to be embarrassing! It can just be funny, or a fond memory.
Posted on May 8, 2009 18:24
I have nothing funny but I guess more of a fond memory..or one of being very brave. I went to Greece when I was in my 20's and everyone there goes topless on the beaches. It took me a few days but finally feeling a tad bit more comfortable I worked up the courage to take my bathing suit top off. Well needless to say that....that part of my body was not so used to the sun. A sunburn there hurts like heck for days after wards.

These swimsuits are so adorable, they are worth revealing embarrassing swimsuit stories!
A few years ago, we were hanging on the beach with my family, eating Doritos and sunning. Everything seemed fine until my brother decided to feed some to the sagulls.
We saw they were crowding around us... let me tell you: sharing a Doritos bag is not a good idea on the beach... we had to put them away and try to shoo the birds off, but as they were flying above one of them pooped and guess where it went? Right inside my cousin's bikini top!
We all started laughing, of course, and she ran in circles not knowing what to do until she sprinted to the ocean to wash off. Since then, we've banned chips at the beach.

I live in MN and last year in January we went to Mexico for a winter vacation - the first sunny day we were there I put on a halter tie bikini, and went outside for "just a few minutes" - twenty minutes later I had a bow impression on my back, as I hadn't put sunscreen on - the pictures are priceless!!!

Since I have always been a curvy girl, I ALWAYS wear a one-piece swimsuit. However, once when I was in high school I went on tour to Disneyworld (I was in a performing group) and had a MASSIVE crush on one of the boys in the group. The group went shopping when we were there and he made a comment that he'd like to see me in a bikini, so I bought (of course!). While laying out on the beach (wow- I guess we didn't do much performing) I fell asleep and ended up with 2nd degree burns on my middle back because I forgot to put sunscreen there. Needless to say, nothing happened between said boy and I as my back was less than appealing... sigh.

I don't know that I have a funny/embarrassing swimsuit story, which is truly shocking for how much time I spend in/at/around the pool. Even on swimteam... once during a race I didn't have goggles and they didn't have all the lanes separated and so I swam with my eyes closed to the middle of the pool and then had to swim back... not swimsuit related but embarrassing, and my coach yelled at me. And I cried. Cause I was 11. Can I get a free swimsuit NOW :)

Not embarrassing, really, just an ugly duckling sort of tale.
Mine had to be back in the day (and I'm old) that I was constantly out at the lake when I was a teenager and wore the boy shorts and sports bra top covered over with a t-shirt to my knees. When I was a Jr. in HS, I had uh, outgrew the usefulness of he sports tops (I went from a B cup to a D cup in like 3 weeks and needed a swimsuit to go), had grown curves and went from being sort of ugly and awkward to more comfortable with my appearance and got the bikini.
Since I ALSO had mostly guy friends who did not realize I was a girl until that moment, when we got there, and we were all getting ready to go into the water, I pulled off my shorts, pulled off my t-shirt and had a gaggle of teenage boys staring at me (thank GOD I had the body to pull this off!)and had grown more into my looks. One of them said with one of those weird 17 year old moments of awe "My god, you're beautiful." It was the first time anyone had ever told me that, and he still thinks it to this day.
After that they all quit treating me like one of the boys, and I never wore the bikini again, my body stabilized and I went to the more flattering one piece.

I was at the beach in Costa Rica with my family when I was about 13 and, lo and behold, I like many other who have told embarrassing beach stories, forgot my swim suit. I had to borrow my mother's bathing suit which was FAR too big on me on the bottom and FAR too small on the top. It was a strapless as fate would dictate. Me and my sister were lying on the sand and we saw some boys in the water that we thought were just too cute so we decided to go swim near them. When we got into the ocean, i was toppled over by a giant wave than actually pulled my bathing suit clear off! I started choking and coughing and the boys came near us to see if we were okay. I just managed to find the bathing suit and pulled it on as quickly as I could but both of my legs went through one hole and then the top didn't reach my chest. They were right beside us and I shrieked so loudly and practically threw my sister in front of me while yelling "Go away!" to the boys. It was, to say the least, humiliating.

Oh my gosh, cute bathing suits! And great stories guys! I think the most traumatic thing that has ever happened to me in a bathing suit is last summer when I got the bottom part of my bikini stuck on this vent-thing at the bottom of my parents hot tub, and I could not get it out... very embarrassing! AND it ruined my bikini bottom, so I could definitely use a new bathing suit!

Ohhh man, I've got a tale to beat the band...
So I'm 14 years old and wearing this cute little shorts-and-halter bikini while on a camping trip with my best friend. Her cute brother was along and I was standing there, flirting, trying so hard to look cool that I don't think I was moving a muscle! Anyway, my best friend comes up behind me and says, "Hey, there's a thread hanging off your bikini. I'll get it..."
I wave my hand absently, trying for maximum coolness. And then, disaster strikes. She grabs the 'thread' pulls and out pops my tampon.
She stands there for a full five seconds holding it, jaw hanging open, and her brother is looking at it as if it were... well... what's worse than a bloody feminine product to a teenage guy? He looked like he'd swallowed a hamster.
So I scream. Then my friend screams and flings the tampon as far away as she possibly can. I run away, my face scarlet and tears running down my face. Needless to say, the rest of that camping trip was hideously awkward, and for the last 2 years I've had to see her brother while at her house. My crush is gone but the searing embarassment will follow me forever!!

My senior year of high school, I had to take the swim test to graduate. At the end of the year, everyone rushes to complete the requirement, so naturally when I did the laps portion of the swim test, a good portion of the people in my class were waiting for their turn by the side of the pool. After I surged triumphantly out of the water in front of the very cute swim instructor, I felt an extra-special breeze in my chest region, and I looked down to see my left boob cheerily popping out of my pink bikini top. Everyone in my class got a free show.
The worst part was that in my rush to run out of the pool in abject humiliation, I forgot to sign the form verifying that I had completed the swim test. I had to return the next day, and the instructor didn't recognize me! I then silently pointed to my boob, and he said, "Ohhh... you were that one."

Well, my embarassing story happened 4 years ago. I was on holidays with a group of friends (boys and girls) and we were on the beach sunbathing. The sea was quite wavy so we had the brilliant idea to go and play with the waves. It was great fun until a BIG wave arrived and...well, by the time it left my bikini (bottom part as well-I have NO idea how THAT happened!) was gone too and I was covered with seaweed! I hate waves since then...

My most embarassing is an ocean experience. In a 2 piece suit, and the waves off the Atlantic Ocean were strong. We were wave surfing and I got hit hard from behind. Off popped the top. Had to get help to chase it to put it back on.

My fondest swimsuit memory was during the summer of '94 at Myrtle Beach. I was 15 and wearing my very first bikini! It was bright blue with a ruffled top. My friend and I were playing in the ocean when a wave knocked me down. Out of nowhere came two gorgeous, tanned and muscular guys to my rescue! In actuality they were goofy teenagers like me, but at the time I thought they were Greek gods. They both rushed over and helped me out of the water. I remember them tugging at me and arguing over who would save me if I drowned. For a brief moment I was damsel in distress... and I loved every minute of it! ;)

This isn't a story about something that happened to me, but I witnessed it, and it was definitely a funny be-there moment!
So, I was shopping for a swimsuit, but didn't find any that appealed to me (unfortunately). Instead, I found a cute top and went into the dressing room to try it. While I was waiting for one of the units to empty, I heard a very masculine voice yell/scream: "AHHHHH!" One of the doors swung open, and this guy hopped out of the unit with a mortified look on his face, wearing swim trunks and the top half of a ladies' bikini. This girl who was sitting on the couch (girlfriend, I'm assuming)stands up, mystified and asks, "baby, WHAT are you WEARING?!"
It turned out that the guy had just been fooling around when a silverfish (bug) scurried across the floor, and he apparently doesn't like bugs. But it made for a good laugh, and this one elderly lady had the most priceless look on her face afterward. :)
Thank you and Popina for this great opportunity!

I was in the hot tub at the house of some friends of the family -- I was about 11. The elastic on the waist of my two-piece either shot or degenerated in the hot water, and when I got out, the bottoms would not stay up... as it was pointed out to me by my parents and their friends.

If you're open for international entries, I'll try my luck :-) I don't have a story to tell either. I don't get to wear swimsuits quite often, as we only have about 3 months of warm weather (at least warm enough for me to think about going to the beach)

The contest is open for everyone! But you've got to tell us a story ; )

My most embarrassing bathing suit moment would be when a girlfriend and I went to a local water park when we were in high school. I was wearing a brand new red bikini, and all these guys kept talking to us and following us around. I thought "Wow, I must really look hot today!" Unbeknownst to me and my what my girlfriend failed to mention to me is that the top of my bikini had become totally transparent when it was wet!!! No wonder all the guys kept talking to me. I found this out later when we went to the ladies room. Now not only was my bathing suit red, but so was my face. Thank-goodness they had a mirror. I ran and put a t-shirt on over my bathing suit for the rest of the day. Now I am older and wiser and make sure my bathing suits have a lining in them.

When I was 12, by mother reworked a really cute, green with white polka dots, swimsuit of my cousins for me to wear for the summer. The top was a little big for me and the bottoms my mother had to put a little bit of extra material to hide my appendectomy scar. This was the first really "grown up" bikini that I ever had. That was my all-time favorite swimsuit.

Well growing up the Gulf Coast, I've had many wave assisted skinny dipping situations, however this one stands (by far) the most embarrassing:
I was at the beach one day when a huge tropical storm swell blew in. Of course I couldn't surf well, but there were at least 30 surfers in the water (waves were overhead, mind you) so being the ever-feministic girl that I am, in jumps my puny little behind, trying to be tough stuff and surf with the guys.
Well no one mentioned that most guys don't appreciate girls who try to surf, unless they happen to be way better than them, so everyone was already irritated that I was in their way.
To make matters worse, once I realized it was WAY too big for me to be out there, I tried to paddle in, got caught inside a disasterous wave and dumped on three times before I was able to surface for air.
Seeing as how I was basically about to drown, several of the guys paddled over to fish me out and take me in. Coincidentally enough, my bikini top had somehow managed to get caught on the nose of the board whilst I was going through the washing machine below, and was flung at least 20 feet in the air and was washing up on the beach when help arrived.
I sucked it up, covered my little boobies as best I could and haven't tried to surf since, lol!
My boyfriend and I are going to Costa Rica in two days and I will most definitely remember to wear a rash guard this time around! :*)

My most embarassing swimsuit story.
Last year, I had this cute string bikini with boy short bottoms. I was at a pool with this guy that I liked, and his parents, and was trying to impress him, so I did a flip off the diving board. The top didn't come off.. The bottoms did. I didn't realize it until I was almost all the way up the steps.. There he and his parents were, laughing so hard, and I was absolutely mortified.
They were one size too big :(

Ahh, embarrassing swim suit memories... Well...
I lost a bet and ended up having to wear a chain mail bikini. I found out two things that day:
1. Chain mail snags skin AND hair.
2. It burns worse than sunburn when you stay outside too long.
Yep, I was in college and stupid. But, I have great stories to embarrass my kids and entertain grandkids with someday.
