Event | Discarded to Divine at San Francisco de Young Museum

discarded to divinge fashion event in San Francisco

Every once in a while, vintage dealers will troll the thrift stores for that little gem we dream of finding and rescuing from landfills. There are so many garments with beautiful details that end up dumped, never to live again. Discarded to Divine, a wonderful event, marries philanthropy, fashion design, and green living.

Now in its fifth year, Discarded to Divine invites designers to create original creations from discarded apparel.

The designs will be auctioned off at an April 29 gala to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society. The event raises awareness and funds to help St. Vincent de Paul assist the poor, as well as victims of domestic violence through St. Vincent de Paul's domestic violence shelters and services.

Among the designers featured in the event at "Project Runway" designers Jay Nicolas Sario and Sweet P. Vaughn, Colleen Quen and Cari Borja.

You can preview on April 9 at the de Young museum.
